then the UK media went with chaos!! riots!!! burned police horses!!! who knows how much of that was down to agents provocateurs? if horses were injured, that is seriously horrid, no matter who done did it.

i’m in Dee Cee. thanks for sharing. all i can say i think in the US & thus the world, the DC metro area probably has the greater number of cops per capital & varying types of cops. i’d show you some photos of the hordes of machine-gun totin’ ‘roid-inflamed pentagon cops but that ain’t legal. cuz freedom.
in deecee? sometimes i just stare at photos of all the iconic landmarks there and wonder what it would be like to live among them, knowing their histories, their purported meanings, and yet…know what is so. come to think of it, another café commenter lives there in the ‘belly of the beast’.
we have one friend there, and he conducts opera lafayette. i reckon we’re about the oddest friends he’s ever made, but we knew his family well over a few decades. his grandparents had bought a spread that was the earliest settlement in the mancos valley, and he returns frequently to keep it running as a ranch now in conservation easement.

Just an observation:

But you know the Guy Fawkes symbology is from Alan Moore’s V for Vendetta and especially the movie, which has this stirring revolutionary (to Alan Moore anarchist) speech:

Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission.
How did this happen? Who’s to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you’re looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn’t be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you, and in your panic you turned to the now high chancellor, Adam Sutler.
He promised you order, he promised you peace, and all he demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent.
Last night I sought to end that silence. Last night I destroyed the Old Bailey, to remind this country of what it has forgotten.
More than four hundred years ago a great citizen wished to embed the fifth of November forever in our memory. His hope was to remind the world that fairness, justice, and freedom are more than words, they are perspectives.
So if you’ve seen nothing, if the crimes of this government remain unknown to you then I would suggest you allow the fifth of November to pass unmarked.
But if you see what I see, if you feel as I feel, and if you would seek as I seek, then I ask you to stand beside me one year from tonight, outside the gates of Parliament, and together we shall give them a fifth of November that shall never, ever be forgot.

Now you might not find that in and of itself significant. But the folks who own the Anon Twitter feeds on this have been echoing the plot of V for Vendetta in their pacing of what they do. They have been involving people anonymously in a mythology of transformation scripted to a fundamentally random (relative to the flow of history) fictional mythology by Alan Moore that just has as its plot the victory of a anarchists over fascists in the UK. And because it’s the UK, the primary political holiday is …not the birthday of the Queen… Guy Fawkes Day, November 5. And Guy Fawkes Day likely was the inspiration for the US Independence Day, when it occurred. John Adams certainly had that sort of imagery of fireworks.
Soooooo….what do the distributed movemental activists have planned for November 5, 2016, the Saturday before the US election day? Or rather, what should we all be expectant about? The echoes of the “one year from now” are pretty clear. The weirdness is that no one need have planned anything for the expectation to take on a life of its own as an idea. And for the distributed decision to shape the form of how that idea gets developed. Does that not completely disorient control freaks?
Especially as that is not the the only act in the circus. There are other movements continuing at the same time, and not necessarily in any sort of alliance with, Anonymous. But all touch on objecting to cruelty, injustice, intolerance, and oppression, don’t they. Except for those who gloat in cruelty, injustice, intolerance, and oppression.
The 677 number and the locations in my area were credible. But no news media coverage in my area yet.
The #opkkk was a bit of a bust; a lot of the perennial names, nothing really stunning, so far not even any cops. I think the hacking well might have run dry since almost every sentient being knows that the NSA is sucking in everything, even if it is not looking at everything.
In other news, my spidey sense tells me (I did get the Iran agreement right, eh) that Obama and Kerry are going to do everything they can to make ISIS and al Quaeda not a problem before January 2017. Letting that situation loose into the hands of anyone (likely including Bernie Sanders) invites some pretty catastrophic consequences. But GOP and Hillary are likely the prime anxieties. If the Vienna Talks can go somewhere, they will. The US will be supeificially hostile but secretly coordinating with Russia and Iran (and don’t tell the Republicans) unless the remnants of neoconservatives and the ever-present liberal interventionists regain traction; Libya and Sirya have sort of sidelined some of their ability to get their war on.
Congress has dodged the default bullet, but it is stuck in stalemate (kabuki or real, it’s all the same). Watch for sacrifice of “entitlements” — Social Security and Medicare.
We are to the point that Obamacare is not working and there is a new crisis in health care right before an election. This one requires single-payer candidates running for Congress (175,000 votes wins).

yes, i was watching wikileaks tweet some of the early analysis, more and more will come, of course. got an email from the white house in which O said so many lies about ‘what it will do for average americans’ and gave the link for our viewing pleasure. i did notice that there are spaces for comments, or at least the one i’d scanned on investor-state provisions (the docs call it ‘investment’ of course). but it was fun to see that lambert strether had commented twice on that one, and good on him!
