Xi, not China this time; how coy of him:
‘Blame Xi, not China, for the impact of the coronavirus’, Austin Lowe, Opinion Contributor — 03/25/20, the hill.com (two paragraphs of a propaganda piece)
“To refer to the coronavirus as the “Chinese virus,” as Trump and other members of the GOP leadership have, is deeply problematic. It is also misleading. The severity of the virus has nothing to do with action or inaction by the Chinese people; on the contrary, many Chinese citizens should be lauded for their efforts to sound the alarm on the issue.
Lowe’s ‘sound the alarm’ link goes to ‘Li Wenliang: Coronavirus death of Wuhan doctor sparks anger’, 7 February 2020, BBC.com], who I’d noted in my ‘Coronavirus Maliciously & Further Weaponized against China’, March 22 diary in blue ink:
Hamid’s ‘censored and detained’ link goes to Nick Kristof at the NYT, behind a paywall for me: ‘‘I Cannot Remain Silent’; A brave voice in China cries out about the regime’s mishandling of the coronavirus, Feb.12 2020, with a photo captioned: ‘When Dr. Li Wenliang warned about the coronavirus outbreak, he was attacked as a rumormonger. He died from the disease.
And yes, as I’d remembered, correctly, Dr. Li was an opthamologist, not a virologist, FWIW. Although RT noted that China had apologized to his family for having issued an arrest warrant for hm, which I’d never heard before.
“The breadth of the global outbreak, however, is the natural result of the climate of fear, distrust, and paranoia in China’s political system under the leadership of Xi Jinping. China’s lack of transparency is nothing new. Its experience with the SARS epidemic serves as the most illustrative example in the case of similar infectious diseases. But the fact that public security officials attempting to quell dissent and information-spreading were China’s de facto “first responders” to the coronavirus is telling.”
From RT.com today, file under “Manufactured News’‘: ‘I read same reports as you’: US State Dept accuses China of putting conditions on Covid-19 aid, cites media when pressed on proof’
“The US State Department has accused Beijing of attaching ‘“strings” to aid given to countries battling Covid-19, but was unable to name specifics, only citing press reports, while also invoking a Chinese “coverup.”
“The official also made a passing reference to “the coverup that happened in Wuhan” – the Chinese city where Covid-19 was first observed. Though he was not pressed to provide further details, reports in US media have accused China of concealing information in the early stages of its outbreak. Most pointed to Li Wenliang, a Wuhan doctor who was reprimanded by Chinese authorities over “spreading rumors” about the virus in early December.”
“To date, the government – as well as Chinese billionaire Jack Ma, co-founder of e-commerce giant Alibaba – has distributed medical supplies to France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Iran, Iraq, the Philippines, and even the United States.”
Serbia as well, but the US I hadn’t known.
‘US puts NEW sanctions on Iran, despite calls for relief amid massive coronavirus outbreak’, 26 Mar, 2020, Rt.com (three paragraphs)
“The US Treasury Department has slapped fresh sanctions on Iran, accusing several Iranian firms of aiding terrorism. Meanwhile, Tehran and the UN have called for the easing of sanctions amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Treasury sanctioned 15 individuals and five companies on Thursday, accusing them of supporting and acting “on behalf of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps-Qods Force,” considered by Washington to be a terrorist organization. Three construction companies, a petrochemical firm, and a religious organization are included on the list.
The sanctions come as Iran’s death toll from the Covid-19 coronavirus passes 2,000. Nearly 30,000 people in the Islamic Republic have been infected in Iran, which is among the worst-hit countries in the world by the deadly illness.” [snip]
“As part of its “maximum pressure” campaign against the government in Tehran, the Trump administration has applied over a thousand individual Iran-related sanctions since its withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA, or Iran nuclear deal) in 2018. However, UN Human Rights Commissioner Michelle Bachelet called for the easing of these penalties on Tuesday, given the ongoing pandemic.”
‘White Helmets use Covid-19 crisis to further US Coalition regime change agenda in Syria’, Vanessa Beeley, March 26, 2020, RT.com
“The White Helmet ‘coronavirus campaign’ is a cynical exploitation of the pandemic to weaponize it against the Syrian government. To really help the Syrians they should demand a lift of Western sanctions, not support them.
Five cases of coronavirus have now been reported by the health ministry in Syria. The country is subject to a curfew from 6pm to 6am as of March 25. Syria braces itself for a potential medical crisis.
The Syrian healthcare sector has been crippled under a “maximum pressure” economic sanctions campaign that has collectively punished the Syrian people for the duration of a war waged against them by the same governments inflicting the catastrophic economic damage. Hospitals and medical care centers have been targeted and occupied by the extremist armed groups throughout Syria, further reducing the Syrian state-ability to deal with the looming threat of an apparently rapacious pandemic.
White Helmets weaponize Covid-19 to ensure Syrian people suffer more
The Al-Qaeda-linked White Helmets group have sprung into action to defend the sanctions regime and to effectively condemn the huge majority of Syrian people to further misery should the pandemic take hold in Syria. An organisation with a history of collaboration with the US Coalition-sponsored armed groups in Syria, itself funded by the same governments, has been triggered by the billionaire-manufactured PR complex that manages and directs this shadow state construct.”
‘Venezuela FM rebukes Washington for barring emergency repatriation flight for 800+ citizens ‘stranded’ in US amid Covid-19 crisis’, 24 Mar, 2020, RT.com
“Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza has castigated Washington for blocking an emergency flight to bring home hundreds of Venezuelans stuck in the US, slamming sanctions on the country’s airlines.
As the US becomes one of the world’s major epicenters for the rapidly spreading coronavirus, Caracas has launched an effort to help more than 800 stranded citizens return home aboard a special flight arranged by the country’s flagship airline, Conviasa. But with US sanctions slapped on the carrier last month – barring the airline’s entire fleet from entering the country – the rescue operation has been halted in its tracks.
“We denounce that the US insists on its air blockade of Venezuela and still refuses to authorize direct humanitarian flights [through] @LAConviasa or other lines, to bring back more than 800 compatriots stranded in the US and registered in the system of our Chancellery,” Arreaza said in a tweet on Tuesday.”
Given lockdowns all over the US and planet, Jeff Bezos must be making mucho moolah hand-over fist. It’s a Global Business, so: how many more world-wide? Coronavirus lasts at leat 24 hours on cardboard.
‘Amazon Workers In At Least 10 Warehouses Test Positive For Coronavirus’, forbes.com, March 25, 2020
“Amazon employees have also tested positive for the virus in at least eight other warehouses across the nation—in Brownstown, Michigan; Jacksonville, Florida; Joliet, Illinois; Katy, Texas; Moreno Valley, California; Oklahoma City; Shepherdsville, Kentucky; and Wallingford, Connecticut—according to Amazon employees, spokespeople and local news coverage. The company has temporarily closed some of these facilities in response.” [snip]
“We are supporting the individuals, following guidelines from local officials and are taking extreme measures to ensure the safety of all the employees at our sites,” said an Amazon spokesperson.”
Some Amazon workers in France had even walked off the job over ‘coronavirus fears’, and no; they won’t be paid.

But there is a bit of good news on the virus front:
‘China’s Hubei province, 1st Covid-19 epicenter, reports ZERO new cases as Beijing lifts regional lockdown’, 26 Mar, 2020, RT.com
“Hubei province, the origin point for the coronavirus and China’s hardest-hit area, has announced no new cases of the deadly illness, just as authorities repeal far-reaching travel restrictions imposed across the region.
The province saw zero new infections on Wednesday, having counted 67,000 cases in total since the outbreak began last December. The whole of Mainland China also confirmed no locally-transmitted cases, according to the National Health Commission, which disclosed only 67 new patients who arrived from abroad, spread across 13 provinces and municipalities.”
Status of COVID-19, gov.uk/guidance:
“As of 19 March 2020, COVID-19 is no longer considered to be a high consequence infectious diseases (HCID) in the UK.
The 4 nations public health HCID group made an interim recommendation in January 2020 to classify COVID-19 as an HCID. This was based on consideration of the UK HCID criteria about the virus and the disease with information available during the early stages of the outbreak. Now that more is known about COVID-19, the public health bodies in the UK have reviewed the most up to date information about COVID-19 against the UK HCID criteria. They have determined that several features have now changed; in particular, more information is available about mortality rates (low overall), and there is now greater clinical awareness and a specific and sensitive laboratory test, the availability of which continues to increase.
The Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens (ACDP) is also of the opinion that COVID-19 should no longer be classified as an HCID.
The need to have a national, coordinated response remains, but this is being met by the government’s COVID-19 response.”

This video is much much too long but it seems to correspond to a feasible and defensible strategy. But a major weakness: it does not take into account the 5G factor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_gMT4_PDJI&fbclid=IwAR0aOrPlsUG7KF1JAfTpZ8KOSA8yKprMxV7TDz1bCnerTj2PQLOpgrNTqz4
thanks, wayne. way 2 long, but most people in china don’t have 5g as far as i know. too much anti-china, and iranian, anti-russian propaganda for my liking. the reasons: the new axis of evil now called ‘the great competitors’ of the Western Imperium. your friend in the video claims to ‘know the truth’, as do some of his fanboys. i find that dangerous as all giddy-up.
did you read my post? or just ping this video on reading its title?
I read your post without also reading the links. The low-level noise against China can’t hold my attention. But Chinese 5G is no better than anyone else’s.
we seem to be talking past each other. the last lengthy del video i’d asked for cliffs notes, and iirc, you gave me someone else’s 12 minute video who’d claimed that 5g in china was some sort of cause or contributing factor to the virus in china.
and yes, it is worse for the Imperium, as the NSA can’t break the encryption on those devices, a very big deal for the five eyes nations’ snoops. so: i’m lost, wayne. and believe me, it’s not low-level noise against china, nor against iran and russia. the pentagon has run war games for attacks on all of them, including with ‘low yield nukes’.
please read: what is 5g and is it dangerous? in its entirety, then.
i’ll add two from pepe escobar, without unwinding them, as i need some rest.
‘Why France is hiding a cheap and tested virus cure’, march 25, asia times (it’s pretty straightford, the next is lengthy, speculative, but fascinating):
‘China locked in hybrid war with US; Fallout from Covid-19 outbreak puts Beijing and Washington on a collision course‘, March 17, 2020
after referencing the gates foundation, WEF, john hopkins, bloomberg project 201 coronavirus pandemic dry run we’ve already talked about. he offers this:
“The World Military Games opened in Wuhan on the exact same day.”
and in his Social engineering psy-op? section, gets to thee snippets:
“New York banking sources told me the truth: systemic risk became way more severe in 2020 than in 1979, 1987 or 2008 because of the hugely heightened danger that the $1.5 quadrillion derivative market would collapse.”
“We are still barely starting to understand the consequences of Covid-19 for the future of neoliberal turbo-capitalism. What’s certain is that the whole global economy has been hit by an insidious, literally invisible circuit breaker. This may be just a “coincidence.” Or this may be, as some are boldly arguing, part of a possible, massive psy-op creating the perfect geopolitlcal and social engineering environment for full-spectrum dominance.”
reminding me again of this pinned tweet by jacob levitch who’s written many academic papers on the gates foundation:
“For the proponents of 5G, many believe the benefits 5G can provide to society far outweigh the unknowns.” At the moment, what one is experiencing of “society” does not motivate interest in “improving” anything on this basis. At least that is my reaction to the quarantine.
yes, lightning data speeds of data don’t confer rationality, of course. and viral (no pun intended) social media corona porn-fear is making everything far worse.
Up this morning to thank you for the calm of your site here, wendye, and the UK message which belatedly I sent over to MoA as folk there seem determined to pursue shock and awe, even b somewhat. Pressure? One can’t tell of course. But I wearied on finding sanity yesterday with the wind blowing through, so garden not an option even though the two big nectarines are determined to bloom.
I have to say, even with how communicative the virus is, I’m starting to feel this whole setup has other elements we aren’t seeing, and no, nothing to do with 5G whatever that is. Somehow, the world has had enough, sort of a ‘pay no attention to that man behind the curtain’ moment. And when I say ‘the world’ I’m not pointing any fingers – this is bigger than any one mindful initiative – it is just a pulling back of the curtain by nature itself, whoever or whatever may have been the cause of it, and I’d say we all are that as well. And the dominoes go down. Last straw on the camel’s back, yada yada yada.
Sorry to be mixing metaphors there. It is a world, though, and a beautiful one this time of year. There’s more than a bit of madness and exposure, especially here in this country. I’d call it a winnowing.
Hope you are getting by and getting some spring!
welcome, and good to see you, juliania. i admit i’ve been appalled at some of b’s positions lately, including some post about separating those with ‘diagnosed with covid-19 from the general population’, and so on. but i’m glad you’re willing to look behind the curtain, and as you say, without assigning blame, but it’s starting to look fishy to me. i hadn’t unwound all of pepe’s ‘cornonavirus variantsin different nations’ with hyperlinks, much i hadn’t understood.
i have a couple more things to add, but i need to answer the single comment on this diary cross-posted over yonder first.
we’re okay, and it snowed an inch or two during the night, but no wind. and tada! mr. wd went to cortez shopping at 6:30 a.m yesterday, and came home with 6 boxes of kleenex! took three stores, but still. the social distancing rules sounded surreal as all giddy-up.
i’ll add two items, but in separate comments. i’ve found the daily beast quite suspect in the past, esp. re: the lies and smears they’d written on julian assange. but this does ring true to me:
‘White House Pushes U.S. Officials to Criticize China For Coronavirus ‘Cover-Up’, dailybeast.com, march 21
“As the number of coronavirus cases continues to grow at a rapid pace in the U.S., the White House is launching a communications plan across multiple federal agencies that focuses on accusing Beijing of orchestrating a “cover-up” and creating a global pandemic, according to two U.S. officials and a government cable obtained by The Daily Beast.
The cable, sent to State Department officials Friday, lays out in detail the circumstances on the ground in China, including data on coronavirus cases and deaths, the local business environment and transportation restrictions. But it also issues guidelines for how U.S. officials should answer questions on, or speak about, the coronavirus and the White House’s response in relation to China.
The talking points appear to have originated in the National Security Council. One section of the cable reads “NSC Top Lines: [People’s Republic of China] Propaganda and Disinformation on the Wuhan Virus Pandemic.”
“Chinese Communist Party officials in Wuhan and Beijing had a special responsibility to inform the Chinese people and the world of the threat, since they were the first to learn of it,” the cable reads. “Instead, the… government hid news of the virus from its own people for weeks, while suppressing information and punishing doctors and journalists who raised the alarm. The Party cared more about its reputation than its own people’s suffering.”…and so on.
this one’s long and wide-ranging, but hits a lot of the bases i subscribe to, as well. i’ll paste in some snippets; best to read it all if it’s of keen interest, though.
‘It Is Not China, But The Western World That Should Be Defined As The “Real Sick Man”, By Andre Vltchek, March 27, info clearing house
“Not long ago, the Wall Street Journal insulted China, calling it “the Real Sick Man of Asia”. China retaliated, and then the U.S. counter-retaliated. Emotions have been running high, journalists got deported.
Suddenly, various Chinese officials expressed publicly what many in both China and Russia have been, for weeks, articulating in sotto voce: that it was perhaps the U.S. military establishment, which brought the new type of coronavirus (COVID-19) to Wuhan, in order to harm China and bring the world back, through complex backroads, under the West’s control.
Suddenly, the world feels very uncomfortable. The way it is governed is clearly perverse. People do not always know why, they just feel frightened, prickly and insecure. Actually, they always have, during the last few decades, but this is somehow becoming “too much”.
Countries do not trust each other. People do not trust each other. People do not trust their governments. Capitalism is despised, but nations have been robbed of alternatives.I work all over the world, and I observe all this. What I see, I do not like.
Increasingly, I am fearful that what has been set in motion by Washington and London, may not end well. That a tragedy is waiting right around the corner.”
“Do not underestimate the coronavirus! It may have the mortality rate of an ordinary flu, but it is much more dangerous than that. Its danger is predominately psychological and philosophical, much more than medical.
It arrived, unexpectedly, and illustrated to the world, that there is no global unity, no solidarity, anymore.
Countries are acting and reacting in extremely brutal ways. It is frightening. It all feels like some of the bad, second-rate horror films produced by Hollywood. Governments are pointing fingers at each other, irrationally.”
“What is essential is that the logic itself has collapsed. The behavior of many countries has become irrational, if the rationale is supposed to be synonymous with the advancement of humanity and improvement of the lives of human beings. Now things make sense only when seen from the point of view of the desire to control and usurp, plunder and humiliate.”
“I watch all this and I wonder: how much further can all this go? Is all this banditry and idiocy going to go on from now on, and forever accepted as a normalcy?
But back to the coronavirus. It is all connected to what I mentioned above, isn’t it? Billions of people are now being stripped of their rights and will, pushed around, and fully controlled, everything justified by a disease with the mortality rate of an ordinary flu? And do people notice that the victims are now being treated like criminals, something that would have been unimaginable just a couple of decades ago.” [large snip]
“Russia does not talk much: it just does, performs, helps. And so do China, Cuba and others.
I want to see the world united. I want to experience humanity embarking on a beautiful project: improving the planet, searching, together, for an egalitarian system, with no misery, no incurable illnesses, no depravity.
But I am not naïve. I see what the West and its extreme capitalism and imperialism are doing to the world.
And I am convinced that only the classic isms are capable of evoking compassion and solidarity in the people. Propagandists in Washington and London tell you the opposite; they will lie to you that Communism and socialism are dead, or at least totally outdated. Do not trust them; you know that their goals have nothing to do with improving life on our planet. Whatever you hear from them, trust the opposite.”
Indeed, ‘shock and awe’ hastily and savagely presented is what I see from many governments, even state ones. It’s important to keep us scared, but I take this also to be true:
““Do not underestimate the coronavirus! It may have the mortality rate of an ordinary flu, but it is much more dangerous than that. Its danger is predominately psychological and philosophical, much more than medical.”
Those dangers come into play from what I have read of the body’s own systems being used in serious cases to cause effective increase of the virus. I don’t understand how that happens, just that it is the immune system going haywire. As could happen if we are, as it were, frightened to death on a democratic level (small d).
The Santa Fe New Mexican, where I have been following items about the rate of increase of covid cases , has stopped identifying individuals found positive by gender and age, ramping up the numbers tested. That’s all it is, more tests, and we are supposed to get scared. I’m just getting angry. I hope that doesn’t feed the virus. Better just be calm and aware. Okay; will try.
if you mean that fear and anxiety increase the virii replications, i can picture that. adrenaline fight or flight with no place to go. OTOH, social isolation has been pretty much proven to depress the immune system, so there’s that as well. locked down alone? oh, my. i’ve been in lockdown for about a year, boo hoo for the others for 4 weeks, but at least i have the wonderful mr. wd. ; )
I agree with you about some of b’s posts, wendye. And I find Pepe hard to understand as well, rather too excitable maybe at present. b’s latest is better. Highlights of flakey war-mongering.
Well, we know ‘shock and awe’ has a sell by date that’s expired in Iraq. And in Iran. It might just be about to expire here as well.
Always the optimist, me. Sorry ’bout that.

and this is only paranoia about gov. newsome. but believe me, since WEF forum, gates, et.al. it’s been about a supranational group controlling/coordinating the ‘response’, and increasingly militarizing it nationally.
