Zombie NATO Is Obsolete; Militarists Try To Revive It Through Expanded Targets

Please consider this by way of a PSA.  The title is from this morning’s Popular Resistance newsletter and was written by Kevin Zeese and Margaret Flowers, December 8, 2019, after the 70th Nato Summit had wrapped up on Dec. 4.

As all their content is CC w/ attribution, I’ll paste it all in, although I haven’t taken the time to check all the internal links.  The ‘bitterly divided’ link is a barn-burner by Alex Lantier at wsws.org, imo.  I haven’t brought their photos, either; I’ve used images from NATO on Twitter instead.

the ‘Great Competitor China’: in Africa

This is indeed a bit of a tome as I reckon it needs to be given the subject matter, but I’ll offer a shortcut in a bit.  I’d like to start with ‘The Bolton Speech on Africa: A Case of the Wolf and the Foxes’, Ajamu Baraka, Dec. 19, BAR.com, and will quote liberally for background, and since BAR content is all CC.  (click image for larger)

‘NATO must prepare to counter a rapid Russia invasion in Europe’

From the militarytimes.com, Dec. 18, 2018:

“Russia is positioned to quickly defeat forward-deployed U.S. and NATO forces and grab land before reinforcements could arrive, according to a new paper from the Atlantic Council, an international affairs think tank.

flip-city news from Ukraine & Crimea

This is the War and Peace of the ‘War, No Peace allowed’ in one of the Nato-repurposed  2.0  cold war proxy wars against Russia.  I know it’s long, but it’s all of a puzzle.  Given its length, were I a reader, I’d focus on the Ukraine/Russian warships story, as a hella lot’s gonna break tomorrow, including at the UN. So far Vladimir Putin and Sergei Lavrov have refused to be drawn into responding to threats of war against The Bear, but what might be the flexion point?  Given that, I’ve chosen to give some background to what’s afoot already.  Yeppers, it’s all copy/paste, but transposing is even more impossible in my haste.

have you ever even heard of Gladio B?

I’d only recently learned of it, and  quite accidentally.  Now most of us are familiar with Operation Gladio. This is the most concise version of Operation Gladio I was able to find, essentially: ‘part of a post-World War II program set up by the CIA and NATO [as well as MI-6] supposedly to thwart future Soviet/communist invasions or influence in Italy and Western Europe. In the absence of Soviet invasion, it seems to have been to discredit left-wing groups and politicians through the use of “the strategy of tension,” including false-flag terrorism. Think most recently: violent provocateurs Venezuela, same for Nicaragua, now Haiti again (with police snipers), where else in Our Backyard just in the past year or two?

A Report from the DC Peace Congress

But first, I’d like to say a few words about war and militarism.

This nation was founded on the original sins of genocide and slavery.  In 1967 at Riverside Baptist Church Martin Luther King, Jr. later called the US the largest exporter of violence on the planet, and had called out Amerika for its triple evils of militarism, racism, and capitalism.
